hyalo-sign, or “crystal-image,” is a term from Gilles Deleuze’s Cinema 2: The Time-Image, used to decribe the linkage between an actual (present image) and virtual (past image) that become indistinguishable in the collapsed cinematic moment  (the crystal-image, or a visualization of time-itself)

time is “seen in the crystal,” reflected on a mirror/reflective/transparent—screen—surface which disrupts the linear-progression of the movement-image (action/narrative)
